Today, a press conference was held on Jahorina to mark the beginning of construction work on the new “Trnovo” ski lift. This lift, from the renowned global manufacturer Doppelmayer, represents a significant investment in enhancing the ski resort.
The ski lift will be 600 meters long, with a vertical difference of 133 meters between the starting and exit stations. The total capacity of the lift will be 1,200 skiers per hour, and the travel time will be three minutes.
The construction of the “Trnovo” ski lift will improve the connection between the Trnovo and Poljice ski trails, as well as indirectly connect with the “Novak Đoković,” “Ogorjelica,” “Skočine,” and “Rajska dolina” trails.
The new lift will allow skiers to use a greater number of trails even in adverse weather conditions when the gondola and six-seater chairlifts are not operational. In addition to the lift, the construction of two new trails is planned, which will increase the total number of trails and reduce congestion on the existing ones.
“Our strategy is to invest in infrastructure ahead of accommodation capacity expansion to avoid overcrowding. The deadline for completing the new ski lift is December 31, 2024, which means the lift will be ready for this winter season. With the addition of two new trails, Jahorina will offer a total of 54 kilometers of ski trails. This ski lift is the most modern model by Doppelmayer and represents a significant step forward in improving our ski resort. We are extremely grateful to the Municipality of Pale, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, the President of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, the Government, and the Ministry of Trade and Tourism for their support of this investment. The €2 million investment contributes to the development of the ski resort and the region,” emphasized Dejan Ljevanić, Director of the Olympic Center “Jahorina.”
Damjan Škipina, a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, attended the conference and stated: “This investment contributes not only to the development of the ski resort but also to the municipality of Pale. I am pleased to witness the beginning of construction and hope we will soon gather for the launch of the Pale – Jahorina gondola project. I also thank the Government and the President of the Republic of Srpska for their support.”
Jahorina is currently experiencing its most successful summer season to date, with 53 operational days and over 70,000 visits. The Olympic Center “Jahorina” is entering the winter season well-prepared for new challenges, backed by significant investments and improvements.
